Tetmosol Soap.

Tetmosol soap is a medicated soap used round the world to keep the skin clean and protects against many skin infections.



Tetmosol has been reported in medical literature to protect against scabies, by preventing humans from contacting scabies, even when in contact with someone or animal with this disease (See the British Medical Journal Br Med J. 1945 March 10; 1(4392): 332–333, as well as the East African Medical Journal, East Afr Med J. 1946 Mar;23:89). It is found to be effective even in the treatment of the more difficult crusted scabies.



It contains an active ingredient called Tetramethylthiuram monosulphide. A tab of the soap t contains 5% of tetramethylthiuram monosulphide. It is what gives tetmosol the yellow to orange coloration. This chemical agent is a powerful insecticide. It also works to kill fungal infections.



Scabies is caused by the scabies mite called Sarcoptes scabiei var hominis or Sarcoptes scabiei for short. It burrows into the skin of individuals infected, and create tiny tunnels where eggs are laid. This bug (the scabies bug) feeds on the skin tissue, and causes a lot of itching.



The most affected parts of the body are the creases of the hands, in between the fingers, wrist, groin and buttocks. Very severe infection can involve the whole body.

How To Use Tetmosol Soap For Scabies

For best result, use warm to hot water. Bath with hot (warm) water and apply tetmosol soap all over your body while bathing, especially over the creases and folds. Allow to foam for a few minutes and then wash off. Dry yourself.



This soap can be used by both children and adults. It could cause some redness to the skin.



You can use this soap in conjunction with permethrin or benzyl benzoate that might have been given to you by your doctor for treatment of scabies. But please ask and discuss this with your doctor first.
