Deep, near opaque in the glass with mineral, graphite and cool, ripe fruit on the nose. On the palate there is a fragrant note to the dark cherry and currant fruit, with earthy, leafy elements too. Château L'Eglise-Clinet 2007, Pomerol
Denis Durantou believes 85% to 15% to be the most perfect blend for Merlot and Cabernet Franc and one that he employs in this wine. Deep glossy purple in colour with a black core. Perfumed cherry blossom notes precede a glorious array of dark skinned fruit on the nose with lovely toasted oak notes emerging. The palate is taut and mineral with a core of ripe, dark skinned fruit. With very fine tannins, this is long, juicy, fresh and laden with fruit. Part of the New Fine Wine Parcel.
Château Montrose 2004, Cru Classé, St-Estèphe
This is very deep and opaque in appearance, with toasty, black-cherry fruit held in check on the nose. The palate is bold and mouthfilling with a great sense of dimension. There is a serious volume of wonderfully ripe fruit yet with a precision peculiar only to great wines. Layer upon layer of black cherry and blackcurrant fruit, awesome power and refinement in one glass – a very intoxicating style with a mineral, terroir-driven vein. Château La Conseillante 2007, Pomerol
Winemaker and Estate Director Jean-Michel Laporte advised that the harvest took place between 17th and 27th September and that the assemblage was 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. As one has come to expect of the property in recent years, they have turned out one of the successes of the commune. Whilst not a heavyweight, La Conseillante displays luscious, attractive fruit, poise and refreshing fruit. Part of the New Fine Wine Parcel.
Château Gruaud-Larose 2005, Cru Classé, St-Julien
As is the norm in 2005, dense purple in colour indeed virtually opaque at the centre. Profoundly rich nose with aromas of cassis laced with spices. Sumptuously juicy black fruits palate is amply supported by grippy tannins. Super harmony and style here, a Gruaud with intensity of flavour, purity and all-important freshness.
